Neuromarketing studies have proven this with a cult classic, Coca-Cola:
Researchers used brain scans to determine consumers preference between Coke and Pepsi.

During the blind taste test, there was similar brain activity for both sodas.  

But when participants saw which brand they were drinking, Pepsi produced no different brain activity while the visual of Coca-Cola’s brand lit up their “dorsolateral prefrontal cortex” and “hippocampus”, both of which are known to change the individual’s behaviour and emotions.
